It depends on what I'm using the GUI for. Scid works well with databases, and of course Arena is good at pitting the various engines against each other.

SCID vs PC. I like the fork better, as the UI is more configurable, and I don't need the features the regular SCID has tha the fork doesn't.

Considering that SCID (GUI and database program) and Arena are free,
these programs are indeed great.

Hello to All,

Have I missed a posting on it or not? I have not seen someone mentioning what is surely the best chess GUI available: Fritz 12 from ChessBase. It is the GUI that is used by the top chess players even though beginners use it too. I currently use the Deep Fritz 12 GUI and it is very easy to use (the "Deep" version is for multi-core processor I think). It is reliable and excellent. Highly recommended I must say. The problem is that it is not free like Arena for instance!

Regards

I am still using the Fritz 11 GUI, which i find simpler to use.
The F12 GUI brings nothing IMHO

For years and years my favorite GUI had always been WinBoard.

The last few weeks I realized that must no longer be true. I found myself using SCID vs. PC time after time again.

I had nothing to do this weekend... so I began a tribute page to this interface. I expect it to evolve over time.

Then Shredder,Chessok, and Fritz...
