Thanks thorstenczub.

It's well established that Houdini 1.5 is stronger than Deep Rybka 4 at any given time control games but I wasn't also aware Tinapa 1.01 is even stronger than Deep Rybka 4! This is a surprise.

Congratulations to the creator of Houdini, The new nº1 !!!! After doing some test marathon there are positions where Ivanhoe´s serie takes a "long time" and Houdini finds the solution in an instant. Wow! For example-FEN: 1qb2rk1/3p1pp1/1p6/1pbBp3/r5p1/3QB3/PPP2P1P/2KR2R1 w - - 0 1

Only one request: I preferred the shape of the previous release, which released a compiler for each type of CPU.

An "Ippo" fan

Tinapa 1.01 is even stronger than Deep Rybka 4!
All you are allowed to say, is that in this particular tournament Tinapa did better than Rybka.

Tinapa being a slightly modified Stockfish, I don't think it is better than Rybka.

I have used Houdini 1.5 at both LTC & STC and Houdini 1.5 never fails with occasional draws, besides books and hardware factor.

And what if I step over all I'm allowed to say, then what? :D . Are the Rybka-fan boys going to chop-off my head? :D  :D ? Or censor me more intensely? :o Maybe even ban me from Rybka forum for even daring to see the light & truth of the day? :o   Oh my!...I'm scared. I really am.

Cheers, and happy holidays ;) .

OK, I will rephrase it: all you are allowed to say, without making a fool of yourself...

Have you taken a look lately at most test sites, excluding ccrl and cegt? I guess all these independent, unbiased testers including Sedat, Thorstenczub, IPON, including my personal tests and experience with Houdini against Deep Rybka 4 etc, that shows beyond doubt, Houdini 1.5 is in fact stronger than Deep Rybka 4 at any TC games must be making a fool of themselves - without actual facts to support such claim that Houdini 1.5 is stronger than Deep Rybka 4.

If Fruit 2.1 won few games (i.e, 5 out of 100 games) against a stronger engine, say Deep Rybka 4, does that mean Fruit 2.1 is actually stronger than Deep Rybka 4 which had a 95% win games? Unlikely. The same argument can be made for Deep Rybka 4, based on numbers of games and high statistical data that Deep Rybka 4 is stronger than Fruit 2.1 - especially on a consistent and variety of tests basis. Wouldn't you agree?

But this isn't the case with Houdini 1.5 vs. Deep Rybka 4. Houdini outperforms Deep Rybka 4. Not by a small statistical margin but on a constant basis in any given Time Control game observed.

Therefore, Houdini 1.5's high statistical & constant wins over Deep Rybka 4 has nothing to do with "one rainy day does not mean it rains every day". Like it or not, Houdini 1.5 is stronger than Deep Rybka - irrespective of my opinion or anyone's. This is a fact.

Come on Prima, you didn't read me carefully... :(

Concerning Houdini-Rybka, no doubt Houdini beats Rybka very soundly, but we are still missing data with very LTC: so let's wait for completion of NATIONAL12's match, reported in the Rybka Forum.

The "One rainy day does not mean it rains every day!" is relative to Tinapa's performance in Thorsten's tournament. Nothing to do with Houdini!

I think I'm tired or anxious...with Christmas approaching. Yes we both agree Houdini 1.5 is stronger than Deep Rybka 4. Somehow, in my mist of exhaustion, I misinterpreted your statement as doubtful of Houdini's strength. Pardon me.

And yes, I know the statement "One rainy day does not mean it rains every day!" is figurative and not in the literal sense. But I was kind of taken aback that Tinapa 1.01 did well in Thorstenzcub's tests. Of course this isn't to be expected on a constant basis.

Speaking of which, do you by any chance, have the 64-bit version of this Tinapa 1.01 :) ? The other modified Stockfish variant, Crab 1.0 beta, is available in both 32 & 64-bit but not the Tinapa 1.01. If you or any one have the Tinapa 1.01 64-bit , I would like to have it. Thanks in advance.
