Houdini 1.5 Tests

Post by JackStraw » Thu Dec 16, 2010 7:37 pm

Might as well get this started...........

i7 (940) @ 3.75 / 2 cores ea / ponder off / 512 mb / Fritz 11 / klo_openings / Rybka using egtb
No LP , or GTB for Houdini ....... he has to just suck it up.........

Time : 4 mins + 2 secs

Houdini 1.5 ............ 64 ............ +39 , -11 , = 50
Rybka 4 .................36

Needless to say , I've run a lot of 100 game tests , and this is by far the worst beat down I have seen !! ( of Rybka )

My only question would be where this leap forward ranks in the annals of CC history ???
Especially considering the high level that the leap started from..........

Congrats to Robert Houdart for this grand Christmas present .........

the usual suspects forums such as hiarcs, CCC or rybka forum will make sure everything is hidden under the carpet of snow christmas brings to us.

the propagandists of evil empires will make lots of silly remarks about
this and that to create fog with the intention to fool the people to push their own products.

you will see, the usual people we all know will throw the first stone and cruxify the bitch. afterwards they will wash their hands like pilatus did.

A quick test I did yesterday:

i7-920 @3.8 GHz
Fritz12 GUI
TC 1 0
Masterbook 2.0 ctg 20 moves max
each opening played twice

Houdini 1.5 x64
Deep Rybka 4 SSE42 x64

No Nalimov tablebases or GTB's
Ponder off

Results: +115 =157 -50 (+77 elo)

Results so far, look amazing for Houdini 1.5. Rybka, has always needed the EGTB's for a good match. Imo, it just lacks the endgame knowledge that are built into many of the top engines.

I'd like to see a re-match where both engines have full and equal EGTB's, and a longer time control.
