TCEC TOURNAMENT 4

http://www.tcec-chess.org/live.php

STARTS OCTOBER 18th / 19th / 20th (Not 100% decided yet)

For chat please visit http://chessbomb.com/
Note: Don't pay too much attention to their built-in computer analysis since it's running multi pv which slows it down considerably.

Misc:
CPU: Intel Core i7 980x @ 4214 MHz
Tournament length: 30 games - double round robin
Openings: Randomly selected - each engine pair will play both black & white of the same opening.

For news and updates check the News page regularly.

Participants:
Rybka 4 64-bit 6CPU
Ivanhoe B52aF 64-bit 6CPU
Naum 4.2 64-bit 6CPU
Zappa Mexico II 64-bit 6CPU
Sjeng 2008 64-bit 6CPU
Jonny 4.0 32-bit 6CPU

Time Control:
120 Minutes for the first 40 moves - 60 minutes for the next 20 moves then
15 minutes for the rest + 30 seconds added per move from move 61

Graphical User Interface:
Type: ChessGUI
Resign: +/- 5.50 eval for 3 moves in a row (both engines)
Draw: An eval of +0.05/-0.05 for 4 moves in a row (both engines - only possible after passing move 40) - if there is a pawn advance, or a capture by any kind, this draw counter will reset.
Ponder: Off
Hash: ~2 GB
Nalimov tablebases: "3 4 5 Men"
Robbobases: "3 4 5 Z Men"

Info:
As some of you may know, a new CPU is now used in the TCEC computer.
The previous one, the quad-core Intel Core i7 920 @ 4050 MHz has been retired in favor of the hexa-core Intel Core i7 980x @ 4214 MHz.
A screenshot with some benchmarks will be added to the Info page soon.

As for the engine selection, well - many of you has asked for Ivanhoe and now here it is.
Jonny is fresh off the shelf - will probably end last here but it might surprise us with some nice play.
Zappa is back with its great SMP scaling - lets see how it fares with 6 cores.
Rybka and Naum are back while Sjeng gets its debute in TCEC.

All these engines have been properly tested with 6 cores.

The final overclocking stabilization tests are currently running on the TCEC computer so the tournament will start when these are finished.
Could take 1 day, but could also take a few more days depending on how it goes. That's why I can't give a 100% certain start date - yet.

Large Pages has now successfully been configured.

All engines benefiting from this will be able to use it in the upcoming TCEC events (this one included).

While successfully configuring Large Pages for infinite analysis, there's not enough RAM to use it while two engines are playing against each other. So Large Pages will be disabled until I upgrade the memory.

Zappa Mexico is one of my favorite engines, but would rather see stockfish and even possibly (if possible) Rondo on the list...

Stockfish isn't a part of this particular tournament, but if you check the archive you can find earlier tournaments and matches with Stockfish.

I will probably include it in the next tournament, though. I've already asked Zach about Rondo but no luck so far. :)

The hardware upgrade is finally completed after some weeks of struggling, but I am now happy to announce that TCEC Tournament 4 has been resumed where it left off.

What happened in game 18 between Naum-Ivanhoe? (I think it is where the torunament stopped) I don't understand why the 1-0 result if Ivanhoe is evaluating it with a 0.00 and Naum with a 0.54. Rybka and Ivanhoe are so close that this game could decide the tournament.
Great work BTW.
