New Rating List
Re: New Rating List
Thanks. This list contains all the intresting engines. I like that the time per move is fixed in your games to exclude potentially bad and buggy time management. So only the pure 'analytical strength' is tested that is also the most important part of the 'playing strength'.
Interesting is that the strength of Houdini is not as high as my "Comparison Houdini - IvanHoe - Stockfish" suggests. This is an example that testing against a lot of opponents is important for estimating the real strength.

Re: New Rating List
More games to come for IvanHoe 9.52a, but so far it looks like a regression from 9.57a. If the rating does not pick up in the next 60 games, I will stop testing and move on to Critter 0.80.

Re: New Rating List
With my other list mostly complete, I thought I'd start one for determining performance in endgames. I've done this before but with 40/4 time controls and not the fixed time control that I now use for testing. My positions are also a little better as well though I sure they can still be improved. Here are positions I am using for endgames and here are the ratings so far:
Notice the compressed ratings. I doubt I will play enough games under these conditions to demonstrate superiority of one engine over another, but I still though it would interesting. You'll also notice I mostly define endgame by the amount of material left on the board.

Re: New Rating List
Hi gaard,
it would be interesting if you test Dr. Deeb's Firebird 1.1, see here http://www.open-chess.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=541#p4876
In Dr. Deeb's list it is more than 100ELO better than all other engines. I have my doubts, but since the differences are so big it would be worth to test this engine.

Re: New Rating List
I took you up on your suggestion. Under my conditions it looks like it would rate very close to the default, which I tested a little while ago. It's only 265 games, but the chances of it topping Rybka or Houdini at this point are very slim.TPJR wrote:Hi gaard,

My pleasure. My curiosity had got the better of me too. Maybe when I find the spare CPU cycles I'll run a 1000+ game tournament.TPJR wrote:Thanks for the test.
