Your results look very consistent with mine. Did you test with a non-default SplitDepth, and if so, which performs the best for your hardware?

I always test default settings as 95% of all users do.

I agree!

I like games with Ponder=ON (I unlike games with Ponder=OFF).

Very good result for Houdini 1.03a. Btw, Houdini works now very nice under my favorite
analysis GUI Shredder Classic!

Houdini 1.03a is at time of course the best eNGINE of the world (not only ON IPON-List)!
Houdini 1.03a have the best search from all others (and is very fast), and have the best evals from all others
= BEST CHESS ENGINE.

My Congratulation to R. Houdart.

ED.
Peace be with you!

Hi Ed,
I like games with Ponder=ON (I unlike games with Ponder=OFF).
I hope you mean when you use two computers!
If you play tournament with two engines on one computer with Ponder-On you get wrong results!
For example when you run under Fritz Gui..be sure that Fritz engine get a lot better result then the other engine..so very negative
behavor from the Gui!
Ponder off..no problem at all!
Ponder On ..perfect when you use two computers!

Check it out to play with two engines, one time Ponder on and one time with ponder off!

Hi Jean-Paul!

I agree with you. Fritz will hold a better score with PB=ON under the Fritz GUI, perhaps Rybka too? For myself, Engine Fritz is by me outdated (I have deleted all Fritz-Engines from my PC). But Rybka is on, and you are right. In my opinion Rybka will better score under Fritz GUI than under other GUI's.

What do you think about tests under Shredder Classic (PB=ON) with an Core 2 Duo CPU?

ED.
Peace be with you!

Hi Ed,

I think no matter what Gui you use..there will be always a engine who will get disadvance or make gain from it with Ponder On!

So,i prefer not to play with ponder on when we play games between two engines on one system!

We want to give full strenght to our engine..if a engine take 100% cpu..from where will take the other engine his ponder cpu-% and time?!
yes, from the other site! so,i want to be sure that my engines get this 100% cpu (without thinking what is still running in the background in our operating system, also that we are sure we closed as many possible and set everything on best performance!)

JP.

Pondering should work fine if you make sure that the two engines combined don't use more threads than the number of physical cores.
On a 4-core CPU you can give both engines 2 threads and they will not disturb each other too much.
