The only reason I see for the engine to be thinking instead of automatically playing is maybe because Experience Book was not enabled.

Anyhow, here are Mr. Anton's suggested exp settings,
Where Spectral exp is used to play in current Duel:

Spectral EXP's Settings:
Experience Readonly=true
Experience Enabled=true
Experience File=spectral.exp
Experience Book Min Depth=18

All about other experimental settings is now too late!
However, good to know, learn, discuss...and just
In case of new Duel..I may use other settings too..

Hi! No, I didn't get lost...The suggestion so that the engine does not take long to respond is: Experience=enabled Best move book= True, the rest of the experience parameters are off, so the engine will only show its best moves and respond automatically.

That is the way that the engine use the exp file as an opening book.

"Readonly"=true, is for testing the strengh of the exp file vs opening books without exp file's growing.

not all exp engines will automatically play moves that are located within the exp file if they were not played by it self. try it and u'll see what i mean i.e. create an exp file and give it to these exp engines u'll see. Raptora and vanilla do not hasitate to play but the rest calculate with that exp book option as ON.

If you are saying that is because you have no idea!

When Experience Book is enabled the engine plays directly from the experience file if there is enough experience data in the position and the experience data fullfills the requirements setted by the user (e.g Experience Book Min Depth, Experience Book Eval Importance, Experience Book Best Move).

I have tested this with my Eman Lichess Bot for months I can assure it works like that. I dont need to create a new experience file I train several engines since more than a year and my experience files handle Experience Book flawlessly.

So...what do you mean exactly? is there any mistake or ?
Because I used exactly with your suggested settings...

I will say it another way, the duel vs books was correct (parameters), what I am answering is the question of why now in arenachess the engine does not respond automatically like RapTora did. (Because you must modify the parameters in experience, turning off "readonly" and turning on "best book move".

Please set as 'best engine/exp settings'..as default
At least in this way, we will have no any confusions etc.

Exception, the testers job should be to set only:
Threads, Hash, Syzygy directory, Move overhead

However, SpecTral and now TACTICAL and Cool Iris come by default in "training" mode. It is a matter of getting used to modifying the parameters of the experience and being patient in training (It takes time, but it will undoubtedly have a very solid opening book). On the other hand, SpecTral's experience file is still small and lacks a lot, however the results are fantastic against the static opening books, because with its results, I have another tool with which I will continue training SpecTral.
