Interesting things on PlayChess

I play on PlayChess because I can test my engine + my CTG books there at the same time. That is the reason.

I am working on a CTG tournament book, on a Lc0 book, on a book for slow hardware (2 core laptop)
and a very wide Universal CTG book playing all the openings. All gambits are played
also all possible openings like Caro-Kann, French, Sicilian, Modern Defence, Pirc, Philidor,
Alekhine, Scandinavian, Ruy Lopez (all variants), Benoni, King's Indian, Queen's Gambit, Dutch, and more.
I know the best variations of all these openings, I know what is good and what is difficult.

It should be clear that you can't max out ELO on a book like this. But I did it
that all these openings do not lose! Whether King's Gambit or Volga Gambit or Modern Defence, my book is
almost impossible to defeat. On the server there are show-offs (sorry for the expression) who use their own engine as eg. "g6 Strategies"
have named. What shoud that? My book also plays g6 as the first move and doesn't lose either. At the last Engine Prize Tournament on InfinityChess I also played g6 against 1.e4 and didn't lose a game with it. And not just me!
Everyone who played the same game a year ago didn't lose. There are very few openings with which it is difficult to hold a draw. This is the truth of computer chess. Difficult is 1. g4, which should lose if the opponent is prepared for it. 1.d4 Nc6 is still difficult. Even 1...a6 is a draw. 1...a6 is better than 1..b6. At the Last Infinity Chess Prize Tournament, only such critical openings were allowed to be played, and almost all games ended in draws. White always had an advantage of +0.80 (then Analysis Stockfish 15.0), and that wasn't enough to win. Computer chess is unfortunately exhausted with the best game of all such possible openings, it ends in a draw.

Opening books are my great passion. Working with engines was a lot of fun for me and I learned a lot. From July 2023 there will be no more Engines from me. The Beast and Little Beast 3 are my last public copies. From July 2023 I will only refer to the engines of others on my news page. I am curious what you and the other programmers will publish.

We are approaching exciting times. In a few days Stockfish 16 will be released. The NNUE will probably also soon be larger, it has already been compressed to 38 MB size. Whether the next size will come with Stockfish 16, I don't know, but the upcoming size has the volume of 49 MB as compressed.

Privately I have already tested this network and implemented it in Little Beast 5 sl (only private engine without download). It runs wonderfully, the newest 2048 net has more knowledge than the 1536 net. The nodes per second are so much less than from the 1024 net to dimension 1536.

Thank you Ed, sorry for not answering you on time, I have been busy and I will have to make an unexpected trip, so I will be away for a month.

I updated all my SF clones to the 2048 architecture a few days ago, yesterday I played some games against your account, the engine is called Beast, I do not play with opening books, actually I do not even download them, I am not interested, I only play with the experience file and well, the results are optimal.

Returning I will place two engines updated to that date.

I'm curious how your new engines work with the new network! Yes, I saw that we played against each other, that was nice, I was happy. I almost always play with my opening books. I would also like to play rare openings and see what the engine can do. Without a book, the same opening is usually played, 1. e4 is always followed by 1...e5 or c5. But sometimes I want to see everything else.

By the way, I'm not interested in nonsense playchess Elos, otherwise I wouldn't play openings with 1...d5 or 1...Nf6 or 1...g6. I find it more interesting to draw after 1...d5, especially when playing on slow hardware.

The player I wrote about won 4x at PlayChess.com against mustafacanseven (an honest player) on June 28th, due to a software BUG from ChessBase (I posted example games above). Since then he hasn't played blitz like I suggested (but new games today only on longer time controls). He's basking at the top of the table despite not having won a normal game.

He only made a few more games on the same day against p0604 (that's the biggest cherry picker of all time on PlayChess). The sad thing about it: He is ICCF GM!

Some people (always the same) keep posting on the CSS forums that they won on PlayChess and brag about it. Let me tell you guys: most wins on PlayChess result from BUGs (engine and GUI), win on time and disconnects. Yesterday eg. the GUI 18 instructed me to play two games at the same time. This is a BUG in the GUI. No engine can play two games in parallel with the same account.

I played against Dark Sister and against Shashchess at the same time. The GUI even swapped the notations! 2x losed in the same time.

A player constantly posts the water level of his games on PlayChess in the german CSS forum, of course always without the notation. He boasted about winning 2 games in 3 hours yesterday. And how?

ChessBase has cleaned up the server. There are currently fewer people in the engine room. It looks like some accounts without a valid serial number have been kibitzing and playing. I also can no longer see the Elo posers and Cherry Picker accounts with Proteus engine. The account data of the accounts cannot be retrieved. The serial number has probably expired or the accounts never had a serial number. In the past I counted up to 8 accounts with the Proteus Engine. I've always wondered how these accounts pay for it? A serial number costs 35 euros/year. Presumably these accounts only had limited free access. Big bragging about swindled Elos, and don't want to pay anything for it. Every honest player on PlayChess who played honestly and paid 35 euros per account was a fool so far. Glad this has now changed!

As you say, he probably had limited free access and thats why all of his accounts are gone now. Another reason may be that he is now playing at the Lichess Server mostly.

The vast majority of his bots only play against low-rated ones in order to gain elo and dont even accept challenges from other bots because if not the real strength of his bots would be revealed...

He has all of this bots, everyone can see the rating diff between his bots and the ones he plays against:

- ProteusSF
- ProteusSF-Open
- ProteusSF-lite
- ProteusSF-Turbo
- ProteusSF-Godot (this is the only one that plays fair and doesnt farm)
