Question about Stockfish derivatives

Post by dorsz » Sat Jul 01, 2023 5:05 pm

Which engines besides Shashchess are according to their authors stronger than Stockfish? I mean engines without using experience.

Hi Dorsz
Nebula vortex is one of sf darivatives without experience file. It released just after stockfish 15.1 and it was stronger than stockfish 15.1.

Nebula vortex by sanjib Patel.

kookaburra was also stronger than sf in longer time controls. once you said that , you are not the author of kookaburra and you just compile it. It was also very good and strong engine.

Yes, but later after some tuning done to Stockfish it was stronger. Unrealeased betas of Kookaburra v1.04 were not released because they were equal at best.
