Engine Owner Migration to UCI Downloads Only

Hello group,

I am predicting that in the very near future you will not be able to buy chess engines with Chessbase/Fritz GUI's anymore.

As you can see with Hiarcs 13 http://hiarcs.com/pcucihow_to_buy.htm you can only download a UCI engine, which can be used in any GUI that supports UCI. This allows Hiarcs to avoid the Chessbase middleman and keep all of the money for themselves.

The downside for the engine owners is it might become easier than ever to P2P or email engines.

What does the group think?

Hi, I just did a quick check and Deep Rybka 4 at ChessbaseUSA is $129 and the Deep Rybka 4 UCI engine download is $81.25!
