Swordfish 14.2, Blue Marlin 14.2

Post by dorsz » Tue Aug 31, 2021 7:42 am

At the beginning I would like to point out that none of these engines are stronger than Stockfish, if you are just looking for more Elo you will not be interested.

Update! The modifications work really well with latest Stockfish architecture. The engines are stronger, tactically significantly better and what's more important still have entertaining style of playing. Blue Marlin 14.2 is stronger than Swordfish 14.1! Swordfish 14.2 is now tactically on similar level as Blue Marlin 14.1!

Please look at the tables for details (sorry for some low quality pictures).

Swordfish has a reasonable balance between strength and tactical abilities. It can be useful for analyzing sharp positions where regular Stockfish can overlook some tactics.
Blue Marlin is more focused on king attack, it sacrifices more material what makes it a fast problem solver. It is weaker than Swordfish but provides even more active and interesting games.

Thanks for the updates.

Going to test them against Lc0 and a few others once I am home and the Ceres 0.93 v Swordfish 1.0 is completed.

You meant Swordfish 14.1 not Swordfish 1.0?

What was the result of that match?

Thank you very much for 14.2's !!

Here the fen and pgn buttons are not working, they say

and the preview shows blank white space :(

I had the same effect.
I tried several permutations.
I posted fens with BM, and they did not print so I removed the bm.
It did not help.
I did not try attachments yet. If attachments work, then we can make images that way.

I should add, this is the evil user923005, now displaced to this location, much to the hot displeasure of many.
