1000 Positions
5 seconds per position
Hardware: Core i7 920 @3.80Ghz, 64 bits, 6 GB RAM, Arena 2.01 GUI.
for 5 seconds per position, 913 is pretty high score. Your hardware is very fast, add to that better RAM and a 64 bit.
Thanks for the test though!

You can use the image capture program to save files and upload it to the server. SnagIt works best.

I'm here again, after having overcome (more or less
) a health problem.
In your excel file relating elos to your results, did you include also the new (Total) column?
it would be interesting: where can I find your .xls?
Thx.
Enrico
Hi Enrico,
I hope you're well.
The total column is ofcourse included

this excel file is bit old, and I will have to include some more engines that I've been currently testing.
Take care and best wishes,
Swami

Thx, Swami. I'll play with these numbers: hope to find(almost sure) a better fitting with "total" values (but, please, don't hold your breath waiting for the results
).

Hello Swami,
Can you run Houdini 1.01 as well. Since in my test it scored better overall but in especially in STS8 and STS9 it was much better 76vs82 and 77vs85 respectively. I will run both versions again to confirm results.
regards,
Taner

There have been 9 different STS results posted recently. Almost all the engines do the worst (in absolute score) in STS8.
Code: Select all
Bikjump worst
Chiron worst
Houdini worst
IvanHoe worst
Sage worst (tied STS9)
TJChess worst
Clarabit 2nd worst (STS9)
Smash 2nd worst (STS4)
Gerbil 3rd worst (STS9, STS2)

Thanks for posting this interesting information. Yes, the "Advancement of f/g/h pawns" is understandably difficult for engines. Most engines are reluctant to advance the castled king side pawns especially when the time control is 10 seconds per position.
In general, advancing the castled king side pawns creates weakness around the king side but in
certain cases it is actually the best especially when the opponent can't exploit it, and that you can go for the attack on opponent's king. I have selected the positions which covers those "certain cases".
