The video reflects eye-popping graphics for a chess board. Will this be the way digital chessboards look in the future?

LIVERPOOL, UK. Ripstone have announced the upcoming release of their first game Pure Chess, which will be available on the Playstation network from the 11 th April 2012.

Pure Chess is the first title to be published by Ripstone and aims to reflect the beauty and depth of the widely respected game. Chess is one of the world’s most played, popular and recognised games and to reflect this, Pure Chess was developed with the aid of a chess Grandmaster, the highest title a chess player can attain. The title aims to appeal to a wide audience with various tutorials to allow beginners to take part, improve their chess skills and become a Grandmaster in their own right. Pure Chess is a classic strategy board game which is brought to life with stunning graphics and a series of interactive game modes.

Pure Chess will be the first available chess game for the Playstation Network, and will enable players to experience the popular and addictive game on their Playstation 3 or Vita.

Will you be the next Grandmaster?

Boy that really does look sweet, just hope it's not the CGI cut-scene that looks good but the game as well.

I do not own a console, so I will not be able to play it. If the graphics are as good as they seem, I hope the Internet chess clubs take the lead and put some money into upgraded 2D and 3D GUI's ! Have you see Dasher at ICC? It is painful to look at. I am using Winboard at ICC, but I am having problems with the .pgn file! I can upload into Winboard, but Fritz does not recognize it.

What are you people recommending for the best 2D board to play at ICC these days?

Cordially,

Sean
