Which Fire?

Post by halestorm » Fri Jun 18, 2010 2:47 pm

What is the best version of Fire? I see the latest 1.31 is criticized. Are there test results that show 1.31 is not worthy? And if not, is 1.30 ok, or must one go back to 1.2?

The best one is definitely FireBird 1.1....

i had results that fire1.2 was strongest in 32 bit.
and when i changed to 64 bit, fire1.3 was best.

now i changed time control and suddenly 1.3 is weaker than rybka.

i would say it depends on the conditions.

time control blitz2'+2" was good for fire.
at this time control 1.2 was stronger then 1.3 in 32-bit.

in 64 bit 1.3 was stronger and little ahead of rybka4.

with more time, rybka is very good.

Does anyone know if Fire 1.1 can still be downloaded somewhere? I seem to have every version of Fire except this one. (I mistakenly applied Dr. D's setting to Fire 1.2, thinking that was the version he had used.)
