Stupid Arena GUI Question

Post by iddscoper » Sat Jan 07, 2012 10:52 pm

I'm using Arena to play a round-robin between 3 engines (Houdini,Critter,Stockfish). The tournament table headers look like this:

Engine Score Ho Cr St S-B

Can anyone please tell me what "S-B" means? I'm sure it's ridiculously obvious, but I'm missing the meaning.

Thanks!

It stands for Sonneborn-Berger score, a tie breaking system, you can read more about it.

And no, I don't think it's obvious.

Wow, such a quick reply!

No, it certainly isn't obvious, so I don't feel so bad. I guess that score only means something once the tourney is complete.

Kind of like the tiebreaker system for NFL football playoff brackets.. having to do with strength of schedule and records against common opponents.

Thanks very much!!
