New free alternative Play Chess site: www.infinitychess.net
New free alternative Play Chess site: www.infinitychess.net
Not exactly sure where to announce this, so here goes...
There's a new site for computer chess games: Infinity Chess. A brief overview, from what I gather, about Infinity Chess:
It's Free,
No Serials,
No Sysop-harassment.
A viable alternative to Playchess site. Infinity Chess' GUI uses .inf format for native books. However, you can configure Aquarium Book Adapter to use your favorite or familiar .ctg book format.
For more information, here's Infinity Chess' home page: http://www.infinitychess.net/Web/Page/Default.aspx
To download Infinity Chess msi: http://infinitychess.net/Download/InfinityChess.msi
Entertainment: http://www.infinitychess.net

Re: New free alternative Play Chess site: www.infinitychess.
Their offered software looks exactly like the GUI from chessbase: windows-only and a super proprietary (perhaps unsecure) transmission protocol too.
I'll pass as its simply bloody annoying.

Re: New free alternative Play Chess site: www.infinitychess.
I tested it out, not bad at all. Although, I don't like the idea of Windows only client. Many computer chess lovers like myself prefer Linux. It looks like the software is written in C# so maybe a Linux Mono port could be done, I have no idea.alfons wrote:Their offered software looks exactly like the GUI from chessbase: windows-only and a super proprietary (perhaps unsecure) transmission protocol too.

Anyways, I played against a 24 core Xeon, 24 GB RAM and won -- on time.

Oh god, I hope it's not one of these fake computers that plagued the old InfinityChess server back in their first release. Not only would they lose on time, they would play extremely weak, so that you could beat them with any engine of your choice.kingliveson wrote:Anyways, I played against a 24 core Xeon, 24 GB RAM and won -- on time.
