... has been released! 07 October 2011.

What’s new

(as compared to Aquarium 2011 GUI and Houdini 1.5 engine).

1. Houdini 2.0b chess engine
a. 25 Elo stronger than Houdini 1.5

c. IDeA engine is optimized and works much faster
3. Inifinite analysis improvements
a. When analysis line is inserted into notation, additional comment is added to the end of the line about where this analysis had place.
b. In infinite analysis history tree you can see not only evaluations of the moves but also depths of analysis
4. Database fixes
a. Limit for size of PGN files is increased up 4 GB instead of 2 GB before
b. Fixed bug with deleting games in PGN file
c. Templates with described header fields can be used for new and existing databases

I wonder if Houdini 2 will come to the Fritz GUI as well.

For whatever reason, money is money, and they can always claim that Houdini is the strongest chess engine in existence, which for one reason or another would be true.
