Need small test of Houdini on AMD Phenom II processor

Post by Robert Houdart » Tue Jun 15, 2010 12:35 pm

I need some help from people with AMD Phenom II processors with 4 or 6 cores.
I'm trying to solve the lack of SMP performance of Houdini on this processor, see e.g. this thread.

Could you run a small speed test with two development versions of Houdini?
The test shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes:
1) Download the 2 test versions from this link (359 kB). The zip file contains Houdini_DEVEL-V1_x64_8_CPU.exe and Houdini_DEVEL-V2_x64_8_CPU.exe.
2) With both versions using 4 or 6 threads analyze a middle game position (or the start position) for at least 30 seconds.
3) Publish the node speed in this thread.

Thanks for your help,
Robert

robbolito, thanks for your help.

It's not easy to derive meaningful conclusions from your data: you used different positions for the two engines, and the analysis time was too short and too different (29 vs. 11 seconds).

Could you rerun the test by analyzing a single position (no need to play a game, just analyze a position) by the two engines for at least 30 seconds? If you want you can use the starting position.
Can you confirm that both engines use 6 threads during the test?

Cheers,
Robert

Here I have sent both engines after 30 seconds of play.Even the images are not showing 30 seconds in the display the screen capture was performed exactly at 30 seconds.
Version V2 is faster than the version V1

Hi my Angel,
you don't speak Serbian or Spanish. This is terrible.Luckily for you I did not write in French. How many languages do you speak than ?
And don't you have anything else useful to do instead of making these funny comments. What are the people going to think when they see our correspondence.
They don't know that our affair did not just start here.Kind of shocking.
And if we continue this way we will be banned for sure.At least you are a pro in these matters.I have joined this forum to be serious but with you this is a riot.
