ChessGUI 0.213 is out

Post by Matthias Gemuh » Tue Feb 08, 2011 12:49 am

ChessGUI 0.213 is out

- Only openings from a book were fine in ChessGUI 0.212.
So ChessGUI 0.213 is a bugfix.

ChessGUI 0.214

- Game play in analysis mode.

Examples of well-behaved WB engines in this new time control are Delfi 5.0 and Deep Frenzee 3.0.
Crafty 23.4 is not suitable as it occasionally ignores the command to analyse.
Most UCI engines are suitable. Try 1 move/sec with this new TC.

Before using this ChessGUI release, look at "Inclusions/Exclusions" in Preferences.

I have suspended work on ChessGUI indefinitely, and am therefore making this very unofficial release of ChessGUI.exe.

http://biglion.110mb.com/chess/ChessGUI.zip

It is meant only for fearless, adventurous ChessGUI users who are willing to report eventual bugs. Use this exe file with official ChessGUI 0.207 (or later) package.

New features:

1) Testsuite stuff reworked.

2) Eval Graph of pgn games (see menu).

3) Engine Self Play.
Tournaments are setup the usual way, but only first invited engine plays all games.

4) Annotation of pgn games.
- uses one or two engines.
- outputs only debug files so far.

Hi Mathias,

What's this shortcut called "minimum fixed ply 5", or minimum time "5 seconds" in test suites window? Is it a good idea to enable either?

It appears that the engine is apparently getting restarted every time the position is loaded. It does take time so I wonder if there is a way around to stop the restarting, and just let the engine work through for the single epd, and then have it restart prior to the loading up of next epd?

The latest version is much improved, Thanks, Mathias.

Once the test suites run from the engine is finished and the results are up, I'd like to see scores in separate window (or html) for printing purposes. (Similar to STS stat).

STS Stat and Arena are not very user-friendly for some people, I've been getting mails about bugs and errors. Mostly it's related with wrong set up of the files within the STSstat folder. Also, Once Arena is updated, STS stat ceases to work until there's an update to it too.

I'd like to see such a feature if it's not much work, Mathias. When it's implemented, ChessGUI will be my permanent GUI for the testsuites. :)

Suitable for engine authors, but not for STS because it does not use full time.

Hi Swami,
when I resume work on ChessGUI, I will try to make it usable for STS.

How do you define STS grades ?

2r5/1r4bk/4qn1p/3p1pp1/3P4/QP2P1P1/1B1NR2P/5RK1 b - - bm Bf8; c0 "Rc2=10, Bf8=8, Kg8=3, Rbc7=9"; id "Open Files & Diagnonals.028";
Best move scores less than worse alternative.

Are such bugs fixed in all current testsuites on your website ? Anyway ChessGUI shall reveal them.
