Houdini 1.5 Gaviota Tablebases

Hi!

I have the Houdini 1.5 running on Fritz 12 GUI.

My Gaviota EGTB files are in D:\My Documents\Chessbase\Gaviota

Setting the Houdini 1.5 engine parameters, I use D:\My Documents\Chessbase\Gaviota

Is this CORRECT?

Or shall I use D:\My Documents\Chessbase\Gaviota\

I do not know how to verify if the engine has proper access to the tablebases.

Thank you.

Pogi,

Using D:\My Documents\Chessbase\Gaviota should work fine.

You can test the EGTB by analyzing the following mate in 115 position:

8/k7/8/4Kn2/8/P7/8/1n6 b - - 01
You should get the result in less than a second:

1/230 00:00,557 1.129 3.000 +M115 1. ... Ne7 2.Kd6 Nc8+ 3.Kc5 Ka6 4.Kc4 Nb6+ 5.Kb4 Nd5+ 6.Kc4 Nf4 7.Kb4 Nd3+ 8.Kb3 Ne1 9.Kb4 Nc2+ 10.Kb3 Nd4+ 11.Kc4 Nf3 12.Kd3 Kb5 13.a4+ Ka5 14.Kc2 Nbd2 15.Kc3 Nf1 16.Kc2 N1h2 17.Kb1 Ne1 18.Kc1 Nd3+ 19.Kc2 Nb4+ 20.Kd1 Nf3 21.Ke2 Nd4+ 22.Kd2 Ne6 23.Kc1 Nc5 24.Kd1 Nba6 25.Ke1 Kb4 26.Ke2 Kc3 27.Ke3 Kc4 28.a5 Kc3 29.Ke2 Kd4 30.Kf3 Nd3 31.Ke2 Ke4 32.Kd2 Nf4 33.Kc2 Ke3 34.Kc3 Nd3 35.Kc4 Ke4 36.Kb5 Ndb4 37.Kc4 Ke5 38.Kc3 Kd5 39.Kd2 Kd4 40.Ke2 Ke4 41.Kf2 Nc2 42.Kg3 Ne3 43.Kh4 Kf4 44.Kh5 Nd5 45.Kg6 Kg4 46.Kg7 Kg5 47.Kf7 Kf5 48.Kg7 Ne7 49.Kh6 Nc8 50.Kg7 Nc7 51.Kh6 Kg4 52.Kg6 Nd5 53.Kh6 Na7 54.Kg6 Nc6 55.Kh6 Nf4 56.Kg7 Kf5 57.Kf7 Ke5 58.a6 Na7 59.Ke7 Ng6+ 60.Kf7 Kf5 61.Kg7 Ne5 62.Kh7 Kf6 63.Kh6 Ng6 64.Kh5 Kf5 65.Kh6 Nf4 66.Kg7 Ke6 67.Kg8 Kf6 68.Kf8 Ne2 69.Ke8 Nc3 70.Kd7 Ncb5 71.Ke8 Nd6+ 72.Kf8 Kf5 73.Kg7 Kg5 74.Kh8 Kf6 75.Kh7 Nf5 76.Kg8 Ke7 77.Kh8 Kf8 78.Kh7 Kf7 79.Kh8 Kg6 80.Kg8 Ne7+ 81.Kf8 Kf6 82.Ke8 Ng6 83.Kd8 Ke5 84.Kd7 Kd5 85.Kd8 Kd6 86.Ke8 Ke6 87.Kd8 Ne5 88.Ke8 Nd7 89.Kd8 Nf6 90.Kc7 Ke7 91.Kb7 Kd6 92.Kb6 Nd7+ 93.Kb7 Ne5 94.Kb6 Nec6 95.Kb7 Ne7 96.Kb6 Nec8+ 97.Ka5 Kc5 98.Ka4 Kc4 99.Ka3 Kc3 100.Ka2 Nd6 101.Ka3

The tablebase seems not being loaded with the new Houdini v1.5 (i.e. the 8 cpu one). It was OK for the previous v1.5 version

Thanks

The default cache for GTB is 64MB but it seems never go that high. I tried to change that to different value, say 300MB, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Tried this in Fritz12 and Aerna. Thanks

Hi! Can somebody pls help me about gaviota egtb.

I also have the Houdini 1.5 running on Fritz 12 GUI.

I've set my gaviotaTBpath to D:\chess\gaviota (where my gaviota egtb is). I have only one file ( the kbnk.gtb.cp4 file) in my gaviota folder.

Then I tested houdini 1.5 with a position which I have in my gaviota egtb (k+b+n vs k) but Houdini just keeps calculating and doesnt use the egtb.

I don't know what's wrong with my set-up.

Pls help.

You also need to install the kqkr.gtb.cp4 file, Houdini needs to find it to know which compression level (.cp4 in this case) you're using.

what do you mean?

maybe there's no effect whether my tablebases are in there current folder or in your suggestion.
