Are there any benchmarks for the Samsung Galaxy running Froyo.I am keen to see the performance increase.

I'm seeing ~90,000-100,000 nps scores on my Galaxy S with Froyo (rooted, lagfixed).

so no big difference. if we could get the engine running on 2 cores, it would be faster on the tegra2 hardware ;-)

Also are these nps based on analysing the opening position as White with the latest version of DroidFish 1.9.1, and I notice on the iphone the max nps is achieved after about 60 seconds so I assume all the tests were under the same conditions. Also the iphone version is still 1.8 not sure if that makes a big difference.

i cannot help when other portations do not use latest versions of stockfish.

what we advise is to go into analysis mode in droidfish, and wait 2 minutes before reading the NPS value.

that shall help getting stable results.

In that case Galaxy S Froyo is more like ~103500 NPS

The board ate my first attempt to reply in this thread. I hope I'll have more luck this time...

Correction: The clock speed of the iPhone 4 is only 800 MHz, and the speed of the latest Stockfish version is about 80 kN/s. The number 75 kN/s was probably obtained with an earlier version.

On the iPad, which has the same CPU as the iPhone 4, but clocked to 1 GHz, the speed is 100 kN/s, just like you would expect.

When comparing the speeds on the various devices, it should be kept in mind that the version of Stockfish is not the same in all cases. If I recall correctly, Droidfish uses Stockfish 1.9, while Stockfish for iOS uses 1.8. Version 1.9 should be a tiny bit faster.

ok.
i know the problem with different versions in the portation.
but better having a chess-benchmark then having NO benchmark at all.
stockfish allows it to relate PC / Palm Pre / Android devices / Apple devices
with each other !!!
we have the first value for a tablet-pc with 2 cores,
the advent vega with nvidia tegra2 !

So the first android pad that uses both cores for chess!!!
