sorry Dr. D.
been very busy here...don't log in every day

i'd like to include even more user settings...
i think it's a fascinating idea to give users complete access to the internals for experimentation...

Fire 1.4 may/could become Fire xTreme?
(with many settings exposed for user configuration)...

i've just added material, pawn,and kingsaftey weights...
along with UCI split depth options (for SMP testing)
Fire normally defaults to:
cut node split depth ->14
all node->12
PV node->12...

and IvanHoe uses:
cut node split depth ->16
all node->14
PV node->14...

but Houdini uses 10,10,10?...
and
as Robert H. succinctly points out in a previous post here in this forum:
different settings here may very well benefit specific systems...

just need some more time...
then i will release the source code...and users can compile it themselves (for all different/specific CPUs etc.)

New name looking weird around here, what about Fire Xtreem? (should have same pronunciation).

no, i like xTreme as a new name for Fire...it's the same as Cyclone xTreme, which i released in March 2009...
cyclone xTreme has 150 user-editable configuration options..., it exposes every possible configurable parameter to the user.

here's a link if you're not familiar with it:
http://www.chesslogik.com/cyclone.htm

keeping the name the same provides consistency...

besides, your suggestion of Xtreem reminds me more of what Rybka just published -> Rybka Extreme...?
people may think i simply cloned his name ... ;)

Does that means the end of development of Fire? It would be nice to be able to make it stronger. Do you have a plan to pocketize it so that we can enjoy it during the flight?

Thanks

Hi wx2010-
No, i'm not ending Fire development, i would like to release both Fire 1.4 and Fire xTreme if possible...(time, wife, and motivation permitting)

I like the idea of releasing different versions which enable users to have more customization. That is one thing I really like about FireBird, being able to adjust values for things
