Experiment with GUI's

I think it would be a good idea to test single engine/STS under different GUI's specifying the certain conditions.

To see how consistent the results are with respect to GUI used, and correlation.

So far these are the GUI's/tools which support EPD testing:

Chessbase
Arena
GradTest
ChessGUI

anything else? Could somebody who own Shredder GUI, ChessPartner, Aquarium try this experiment?

Hi,

Could post a link to the STS, I will try it in the other GUI's when I get time.

No reason for results to vary more than 2 percent from one gui to another since they are all using the same protocol. Lag may be the only difference. I could be wrong however.

I think that chessbase or Grad Test tool have the least "lag". It would be interesting to try out anyway :)

We could also get some idea about which GUI's are reporting vast differences than others.

A GUI might not necessarily be neutral. Maybe there exists a GUI, which cheats in favor for a specific engine by supporting that program e.g. by live sent information about actual best moves or their evaluations e.g. using hidden information channels - who knows ... ?

Actually Winboard has the least "lag". But it doesn't support EPD testing.

Too bad, I wish H.G Muller would implement a feature because it would really be helpful.
