Hopefully the author will continue on the Robodini project to eventually produce an SMP version. On a side-note relative to cosmetic, I think an additional letter "b" should've been added to its name - as in
Robbodini - to properly align with the GPL RobboLito engine.

I'm 99.9999% sure this is just Yet Another Flash in the Pan lightly-modified Ippo, Robbo or revenged Houdini which tests well initially and will ultimately not live up to its hype. If I have to eat 0.0001% crow, so be it.
That said, Robbolito isn't GPL, it's open source. Kranium GPLd his version of the code, but the base sources are free as in beer. That's why Robert Houdart may be ethically wrong for appropriating the open-source, free Robbolito code and modifying it into the closed-source, commercial Houdini, but legally he's at least in a grey zone (probably legal in the US, probably illegal in Europe, where authorship remains relevant, regardless of copyright status). Anyway, I have nothing new to add to that debate, either.

Interesting. This engine is from Richard Vida...
I may have to reconsider my previous statement...

I thought so too - that it was just another modified Ippo, until I realize the size of the executable file is very small. I know, size is a crude way of measuring things relative to similarities etc. And you're right: In Europe domain proper, the author of Houdini cannot legally re-bundle an open and/or GPL source and commercialize it. Some contended that since it was open source, that the author of Houdini could do so, but again, the laws of Europe....
By the way, thanks for the correction on the status of RobboLito. I thought ALL RobboLitos were GPL'ed but as it is, only Kranium GPL'ed
his RobboLito - for obvious reasons. Another crux of the matter is, Houdini originates from the GPL RobboLito, specifically version 0.085g3, developed by Kranium & Sentinel:

Thanks Mathias. 'Glad another sees / agrees with the cosmetic name. And thanks a heap for your GUI too.

It was the dumbest thing I've ever seen in computer chess . What kind of idiot are you?

That's harsh, Carlos, and not really merited. It's not Richard's fault that lots of people got their hopes up about Robodini. I'm relieved that I won't be eating crow.
Congratulations on winning your bet, Richard.

but robodini is better than H3 based on my tests .. I think it has a future.. Richard, you should improve this engine for your own sake. Many programmers want to create an engine that is strong like this one and you are the one who can defeat houdini.. I trust your work such as ( Critter ).
Thanks
