But you can not do anything by touching, right? You have to type.
Is not touchpad going to get multiboot with android and linux in addition to webos? No touching on linux I guess either.

??

you can touch on the chess board and move the piece. and for setup time control or enter game comments you have a virtual keyboard.

there will be android and webos on this hp touchpad, yes.

Interesting. I guess CSTal was originally working with mouse in dos. As far as I remember at that time for dos games (the only one I remember is first civilization) you had to choose from the list of resolutions, so I guess resolution is just set to touchpad resolution, and everything looks nice

But this means that you can also run CSTal in dos box on android ?

i guess there is a guy who compiled dosbox with mouse support for some games.

see:
http://forums.precentral.net/webos-deve ... webos.html

he even allowed some gestures that "translate" mouse clicks, escape or keyboard appearance. i tried several chess programs and CSTAL works.

the usability could be little better because you have to precisely find the mittle of the pieces when moving, but all the SAA standard menues work very good.

and if you input move/time for 40 / 120, 20/60, 20/60
you can make the gesture, keyboard appears and you type the numbers in.

there will be updates to the dosbox program. maybe the usability for other
chess programs happen too.

e.g. i tried rebel and i have problems to OPEN the menues above the chess board,
or with genius, i have also problems getting the menues opened with the mouse.
it could be the GUI of those chess programs handled the dos mouse different. chess system tal is pretty much an SAA standard program (Standard Application Architecture defined by IBM).

that what not normal in that time in dos chess programs. very often the programs
had their own behaviour different from SAA.

cool. so you can maybe try to run CSTAL on your pad too.

there is also advanced chess (GUI +stockfish engine) by mathias eck.

he is working on a touchpad conversion of the mobile-version of advanced chess.
in the moment advanced chess only works in the emulated mobile-version of
webos. this is pretty much similar like the iphone/ipad handling of mobile-versions.

don't know why HP axed it. With a little bit of tweaking it is extremely fast. With overclock it is even better. WebOS looks nicer than android.
I installed debian on it, not separate but inside webos in the card. Didn't try any chess gui yet, but scid and xboard should run, as there is no problems with any other applications in debian. And I guess all engine binaries from chess for android page will run in xboard or scid. Looks just normal linux box on arm architecture
