Any idea how strong the new Spike 1.4 is, compared to Houdini 1.5a 3011 and Rybka 4 2954 on the inwoba list?

Thanks

I think there might be a bug with the Spike's Book Learn Filename feature and its usage.

Scenario 1:
I created a .txt file-extension for it, SpikeBookLearn.txt and also put the book learn's name in Spike's configuration file, but Spike won't move on engine-engine matches. I deleted the name of Spike's book learn filename, SpikeBookLearn.txt from its configuration file and Spike now makes moves and plays on game start.

Secenario 2:
Next, I created an empty file name for Spike's Book Learn Filename, named SpikeBookLearn (without any extension to it) and placed it alongside the Spike 1.4 executive file, still othing happens. Spike won't make a move on "game start". Once I deleted this file, Spike can make a move and play on game start.

Spike's Position Learn feature works fine, although the file was auto generated by Spike 1.4 (and without an extension)and was filled up after each games played. But Spike 1.4 didn't fill up the SpikePositionLearn.txt file I had created for it.

In either case, does Spike have a special extension for its Book Learn Filename? Anyone else notice any problems with creating and using Spike's Book Learn Filename feature?

I have been playing 2 matches vs Deep Shredder 12 at 5 minutes on two separate systems. If I had to take a guess right now I would say that the new Spike 1.4 is about 2750 based off the IPON list. Deep Shredder 12 appears to be about 45-50 Elo stronger. This is based off 163 games played so far.

The systems I am using are a Q6700 and a Q9000, both engines are using Ponder On and 2 Cores. Match A is using the Fritz GUI and Match B is using the Shredder GUI.

i7 (940) @ 3.75 / 2 cores ea / ponder off / 512 mb / Fritz 11 / klo_openings / Both using egtb

Time : 4 mins + 2 sec

Spike 1.4 ......... 50 ......... + 31 , - 31 , = 38

Shredder 12 ...... 50

Close match , low draw %

Spike rallied down the stretch to tie the match , going +3 the last 7 games..........

Here's a killer win.........

Thanks for your tests Thorstenczub (also thanks to Martin and others). I made a 64-bit PGO build for Tinapa 1.01.

If you would like to include Tinapa1.01 PGO-MsVS2010-x64 build in your tests, you can get it here http://www.open-chess.org/viewtopic.php ... 6&start=50
The regular build for Tinapa1.01 x64 can be found here http://www.open-chess.org/viewtopic.php ... 6&start=40

The intel C++ build asks for a specific dll which can not be fixed by downloading the dll in question. There are no compatible dll from the interent. So I recommend to skip the Tinapa1.01 x64 Intel C++ build. It's useless.

Prima.
