There are two versions of Strelka 3:
1. Strelka 3R - based on code of Strelka 2.0B with the evaluation function of Rybka 3. This version is available for download.
2. Strelka 3P - mostly based on code of Rybka 3 with a lot of improvements. This is private version.

Hi,

I found the 3R but unfortunately the download was withut source and GPL. As Strelka is a "fruit" (according to you) It has to have both. If there is an official release I might test it. If it is the best available Fruit-derivate it will remain in the IPON list then. Without the GPL and the source I cant do that now.

So, if you have an official downlaod with License and Source I'll be happy to test it for the IPON.

I have decided to no longer publish the source code.

Which means that you deliberately break the GPL of Fruit with Strelka 3!?

Well, I'm a chess programmer and I have an opinion on the Fruit-Strelka issue. So why not post it?:)

1) I studied both the sources of Toga II 1.4 beta5c and Strelka 2.0B.
2) Toga is quite similar to Fruit.
3) I found Toga and Strelka to be very different.
4) If there are some similarities, they are concentrated mostly in the evaluation function. Board representation is also similar but it presents quite a logical approach, so I'm not sure if this is a GPL issue or not.
5) For me it's quite clear that these similarities, if they indeed exist, can be easily removed from Strelka's code without any influence on the playing strength.
6) Strelka 3R features the evaluation from Rybka 3. Hence it's evaluation has nothing to do with Fruit's. And I'm not aware of any Vasik's objections concerning the distribution of Strelka 3R.
7) It's quite clear that search algorithms of Strelka are different from those of Fruit. Very different.
8) Here's my conclusion. Strelka is NOT a derivative of Fruit. Even if Strelka 2.0B has some similarities to Fruit, the number of similarities between Strelka 3R and Fruit is much less.
