The name FireBird cannot be used for legal reasons.

Absolutely true....now I am testing 3 different personalities of FireBird 1.1,all are extremely powerful and will publish them along with the results in time due....Houdini and Depp Rybka 4 are being devastated by these monsters....FireBird 1.2 & FireBird 1.31 are way far behind too....

Hi Dr. Deeb,

create a personality, which is dominant also at shorter time controls (like 4+4). For me it is very hard to believe that an Engine is MUCH better than Rybka4 at longer time controls, but worse at shorter.

FireBird 1.1 is very strong engine. The only problem is frequent crashes that are very annoying.
I hope that Norman can solve that problem so we can enjoy the full power of that engine.
And with Dr.D's setting we can have different personalities to play.

I am surprised because I almost have zero crashes under the Fritz 12 GUI 8-)
I've made a new personality derived from Dr.Deeb I and it's much much stronger but will publish it when I have enough games to show....

Hi Dr. D.,
I am using CB Rybka 3 GUI and on all 4 computers that I have used for testing Firebird 1.1 would crash from time to time.I am using hash of 256 although I have 4 Gig RAM on all computers I use for chess testing. Not sure that there is any significant difference between Rybka 3 GUI and Fritz 12 GUI.
Even yesterday when I was testing Houdini and also new IH version T1.0 there were crashes on 2 computers .If it is not IH than it is Houdini who does this from time to time but not very often.
The amazing thing is Rybka that so far never produced crash when playing tournaments.
You can imagine the frustration when you leave the computer at night to play the games and in the morning even CB GUI is kicked out and the computer is quiet.
Anyway I am waiting for Norman to surprise us again with his new program.

Hi buddy,
aha....all clear now....
To avoid this I play a set of only 4 games against a particular opponent when I am home and then record the result in the Arena GUI under the tournament already created with all the engines playing under the Fritz GUI....this way you'll avoid the frustrating crashes when running tournaments under the ChessBase GUI....a little bit annoying but safer :D
