I try to keep the IPON free of very similar engines as this would distort the ratings. Therefore one of the two 1.6 Critter versions will be deleted with the next engine which will be played in. The question is which one. The latest release of the author or the "better" one? Anyone willing to share his opinion?

In my opinion it is better to override the old version with the new version in a rating list so that it will always be "fresh" provided that no other engine could overtake it in the new rating list during the override. The engine chess matches usually produce random results especially in short matches of less than 200 games or so. For me it does not matter for as long as the engine rank stays the same although the ELO rating may not.
Just my 1 cent worth of suggestion.
