Hi dear sedat
At least one part of my prediction comes true. My first prediction was completely wrong. Totally I expected more from Klasman engine.

Dear Homayoun,

Yes, as opening books...
The engines performances are depending on out used cond. too.. and
It is as mystery to recognize who will be Champ..if close in strength engines...

Btw, what is your guess about Grand Duel Fınal ?
Houdini or asmFish ? )

It’s very difficult to say. But I guess under the rapid time control Houdini has more chance. You know we are talking about 2017. On that time Houdini was a great competitor for stockfish. Asmfish was also very fast engine and a little stronger than stockfish and other derivatives. Many chess fans applied these two engines for their practice and analysis on those days. I bet on Houdini for rapid games. Let’s see what happens.
Best regards

Breaking News (18.01.2024):
For anyone missed, a new CS organized..in the name of Mr. Homayoun!
Frankly, I like it...really sometimes nice to see and test favorite ones too!
As in recent tour, again two separate tourneys are played, but this time
What is new? e.g as additional, GRAND Duel Match is organized as well..
As I stated before, all belong mainly to 2017 and if you ask why this year?
In short, due to interest.. plus as other reason, simply for more fair cond...
Otherwise, imagine..if SF2024 releases too..it will be not fair..right ?)
E.g only Xiphos 0.6 (released in 2019) is as newest engine (in this tour)
Be aware that too Stockfish 051217 is newest (if comparing all of 2017)
Where Shredder 13 is oldest..released on Oct 2016, but all rest in 2017
In other words, mostly are released in close dates (about 7 years ago..)
For more info about current competition, you can read: Goi + OpenChess

GRAND Champion (10m+5s) asmFish - Congrats to asmFish, SF team!
100 games, played at Rapid between both Winners (asmFish vs Houdini)

Yes... I was thinking same that Houdini may win (about GRAND duel)
But asmFish is asmFish...really an amazing performance is out there...
As you may see too...asmFish managed to win with BIG margin...!!
Sure, if we will run 1000 duel games... then the margin will be less...

But I admit also that,
Houdini plus many other Top engines are performed very good too!

Dear Sedat
Thanks for the tournament. It was a variety and something different. Our memories and nostalgias about chess engines came alive. Also the idea of tournament about original thoughts of engines was excellent. I liked this tour very much. Asmfish showed again that it’s the king of non NNUE engines.
Best regards

Hello there )

NEW: SCCT - Classic Engine Championship I

Just another new interesting competition, where this time
I'm going to test engines, released many many years ago!
Be aware that mostly planning engines are close to GM level

To be more clear,
All matches will be played via Blitz TC: 4m+2s, later
The highest 4 ranked ones may play Rapid (10m+5s) too!

And if you ask ...why I pick especially 2000 years chess engines...?!
Actually for several reasons...but mainly due to fun..e.g in the past:
I had great pleasure with these engines, sure with others too... besides now
Who knows about what will be influences on fast machine, stronger openings etc.

In other words, via this tour:
No gaining from previous played data, in short: real, as human like chess!
Yes, under Classic cond. is not easy to increase much playing strength...
It's definitely hard..it's something like climbing to Everest mountain, right?)

And as you may see too (in the planning new tour),
Almost all of current engines are released in 2000 year
Exc. Hiarcs, SOS belongs to 1999, Chess Tiger + Yace to 2001
But all other rest engines are belonging to 2000 year!

And I wonder much which engine will be Number ONE
By the way, what is your estimation ?)

Amy 0.7
Anmon 5.09
Chessmaster 8000
Chess Tiger 14
Comet B27
Crafty 17.14
Fritz 6
Gandalf 4.32h
Gromit 3
Hiarcs 7.32
Junior 6
Insomniac 0.69
LambChop 7.10
Little Goliath 3
Nimzo 8
Rebel Century
Shredder 5
SOS
Tao 4.4
TCB 0.45
Yace 0.99.56
ZChess 2.22

More Details:
The above engines are not tested before on my 2x EPYC machine
And let's hope to see no crash, just in case..the engine will be out..

Good luck to all players!

Best,
Sedat
