UPDATE 3

Here are the 1st official tourney results,
Where Troubadour is the current Leader!
My congratulation to Mr. Eduard Nemeth
Where StockfishPB engine is just behind..
Well-done to Mr. Anton Ces as well, due
To be on Top is not so easy as it looks !!
And on 3rd place, for right now CorChess!
Is this all luck..? not of course...because
Under SCCT cond. 'luck' plays less role...
if still not so clear, because usually here
Strength, strength.. says the 'last' word!

On the other hand, there is BIG fight...and
Let's see which monster will be next Champ?!

Meanwhile, unfortunately
It seems the latest SOLIDOR AI is weaker than all,
Really strange..e.g the older SOLIDOR is better..!
Note: SOLIDOR AI is Modern..AVX2 vers is crashed ..
Note also I downloaded it from MEGA site, which
Available/shared on Anton Ces's Telegram page

Breaking News (12.02.2025):
Another series of 3800+ tours organized, congrats and many thanks to all!
Nowadays CorChess is unstoppable, a real beast for sure! I admit too that
Mostly of the current played engines are very close in strength each other...
As we see, even 3 (three) Top engines are managed to be ranked as 2nd.
What I can say more over, there is no any guaranty to be Number One, but
I believe in that via better ideas / techniques, why not you as next Champ?
However, please do not take too seriously the results..just fun tournament..

LX's Champion: CorChess - My Congratulations to I. Ivec, Stockfish team!
Note: Exactly same CorChess vers. is already several times Number One!

Hello Chess Friends,

As usually, I am very pleased to announce,
Here is another new exciting CS, but this
Time some of players are belonging even to
1980's! And special thanks to Ed Schroder!

To be more clear,
There are 4 very old engines: Mephisto's MM5 by Ed Schroder,
The rest oldies: Amsterdam, Dallas and Roma by Richard Lang
And if I am not wrong, according to SSDF rating, they are rated
Minus plus 1800-2000 Elo points... Meanwhile, all of the above
Ancient chess engines have micro sizes, minus plus 50 KB !

And as alternative (which are newer but close in strength),
I have included also plus Elf, Loki, Gargamella and Kanguruh
E.g Elf (by Erdi Ata Bleda) has micro size too, just 33 KB!

Well and here are 1st played results:

The Current Leader: Dallas - Congrats to Richard Lang!

Code: Select all

Rank Name Elo +/- Games Score Draw
   1 Dallas 32 bit 69 70 82 59.8% 17.1%
   2 Amsterdam 47 73 82 56.7% 11.0%
   3 Kanguruh 9.3 22 71 80 53.1% 16.3%
   4 Roma 32 bit 13 69 78 51.9% 21.8%
   5 Loki 1.02 -13 76 78 48.1% 6.4%
   6 Elf 1.3.0 -34 70 82 45.1% 17.1%
   7 Gargamella 0.5 -35 72 80 45.0% 12.5%
   8 MM5 -72 73 78 39.7% 15.4%

320 of 2240 games finished.
Btw, for anyone interested, for more info about 80's engines:
https://web.archive.org/web/20130122070 ... phisto.htm

Note also that
There are more old engines out there, such as Rebel 5, Cray Blitz etc
But unfortunately some of them forfeits on time or not suitable for tours..
So I picked the ones which are more stable for game play (in tournaments)

And please stay tuned.. more updates soon..

Greetings

Breaking News (16.02.2025):
Well, 2 (two) separate.. but very interesting competitions are organized!
And as you may see too, in the 1st tour: some belonging even to 1980s,
Where in 2nd tour: some are belonging to 1990s and just for comparing
I included more newer, but special engines, otherwise hard to guess their
Strength. yes..now we've more data regarding improvements from past
To present! What I can add more, during 1980s: strongest engines were
Minus plus 2000 Elo, during 1990s: the strongest engines were close to
2500 Elo, nowadays (in 2025) many of Top engines are 3700+, 3800+ Elo
Points! But this is also true that in 2020-2023, there was serious jump in
Elo points, min 200 Elo points are recorded (via SF NNUE) but after that
Period, the Elo improvements are almost dead! Perhaps 30-50 Elo points
In Bullet..at least my recent 3800+ Elo tours indicates this! In other words,
It's clear that almost all Top programmers have troubles to add much Elo
Over 3800+ barrier, right? Btw, unfortunately some 'hopeless' guys often
Blame my short openings such as they are drawish, hehe) but all of them
Forget to mention that they're strong, better in quality and here is the point
That they're not honest over..at least once they'd try to say theirs used lines
Are weaker... but it seems they will never say the true.. and believe it or not,
Many are not aware which opening is strong or which weak! On other hand,
How much is that true? This is other question, but till 2020..not many were
Blaming my short openings and why?) Btw, who said that Unique openings
Produce high-draw ratio?) See here please, minus plus 15% if still not clear,
Not so bad idea to learn over..because reality is not as it looks! And here is
The proof..Yes..we've a lot of NN files, with winning data...but in same time
Many positions leads to draw too, and it's all right..better draw than to lose !)
Actually there is nothing impossible.for this..regarding how to increase wins,
I think that required newer and better techniques, sure I'm doing my best via
Openings even with engines too and I wonder what about you? I mean that
Do you try ever to improve your tours or chess engines e.g via strong lines?
Who knows? maybe here is the true?) anyhow, fun is fun..it doesn't matter
So much e.g running tours via 2000 Elo or tours with 3800 Elo participants..
Ok..Friends that's all for now, thanks, congrats to all Authors! see you later )

1980s Tour Champion: Amsterdam - My Congratulations to Richard Lang!
1990s Tour Champion: Rebel 6.0 - My Congratulations to Ed Schröder!
