TDF 2012

Seems like a great tour for Great Britain and France so far.
France with some exciting stage wins, and GBR with Wiggins as a shoe-in. It really seems as though they custom designed the course for him this year. Though there are some tough mountain stages, very few have a mountain top finish, so the uber-climbers won't have a huge advantage. That plus the huge amount of time trials make it a gimmie for Wiggins. I think Nibali will be his greatest threat, if any should arrive. It's not inconceivable that Froome will podium as a result of protecting Wiggins.

Mark Cavendish's results are proof that cycling is a team sport. He's clearly the best sprinter (by far), with the talent to win every single sprint stage. But having no protection and no lead-out train this year is showing up in crashes and losses. He needs a team that cares about sprint wins.

I really enjoyed Thomas Voeckler's win the other day, but it seems he has no chances to come near the podium this year after his 4th place previously.
