IvanHoe also WAS for a period of time. The current period of time champion is Houdini 1.5a, by the respected author Houdart. The strongest engine sometimes, is so close to the second that results vary. The only problem with Firebird is the constant crashes. Other than that, it's a very good engine, and my personal opinion is, that the way Fire plays with knights is amazing. Similar to Houdini's love for bishop pair tactics. If someone were to combine the 2 engines into 1 it would destroy with Houdini's bishops and Firebird's Knights.

He is, like (almost) any other chess engine author, deserving of respect for taking the time to provide a strong, unique chess engine to the community FREE OF CHARGE. Unlike paying $90 for the cloned work of Vasik, free chess engine authors deserve MUCH respect, so don't complain about his works when you have provided nothing yourself.

We copied the download links and limited information with them of the patched Houdinis from THIS forum , no idea as to wether or not they were posted elswhere prior to that but they were certainly NOT posted on ANY mainstream forum or chess blog before we saw them here

ERGO as ADMIN here knows FULL well we did NOT post them and a simple look at IP address of whoever did should point the finger towards whoever may have hacked them if indeed they were "hacks"
