Best LCD monitor for chess?

I am going to buy a new computer system soon, for analyzing chess, playing online, and solving puzzles.

What is the best LCD monitor for this task, in your opinion? I am looking for something around 24 inches,
like the HP zr24w or the Samsung Syncmaster BX2450. I would prefer something new, like the Samsung,
if it is substantially better.

Thanks

Chess is typically played in two dimensions, so any monitor can be used with any video card. This being the case a larger monitor would be best as it is easier on the eyes. It is not the same as asking what monitor works best for gaming!

Cordially,

Sean

Unless you are doing millisecond-rate blitzing, where the refresh rate might prove decisive.

Samsung Syncmaster P2770H 27" LCD 2ms- 70000:1 contrast ratio.
I think it was 365 bucks at Pricegrabbers.

Looks good. But i have the hp and have no complaints with it.

Best,
Gerold.
