STS (v12.0) - "Center Control"

Version 12 of the Strategic Test Suite series is now available for download.

* Consists of carefully selected 100 test positions on "Center Control"

Information:

Posting the piece in the center in early middle game to late middle game.

4 central squares (e4,d4,d5,e5) are the most important squares. It's obvious someone has to take control before their opponent does.

It consists of:

* Posting the piece in the center.
* Usually a Queen/Rook/Bishop/Knight.
* No pawn moves.
* Plan is to post the piece in the center and exert pressure on other side.
* Another plan is to have access to more squares on the board.

Tests engine's strength on initiative, and mobility.

Just like to to say thank you for all the hard work and effort you have put into STS. I believe that is especially for amatuers who don't have access to 100's of processors. It is has proved to invaluable to me as a fast (and accurate) method of tuning Jabba's evaluation function... which still has a long way to go!! .
