Narcissism and comp chess forums

The Narcissism of Small Differences

The term "Narcissism of small differences" was coined by Freud in 1917 to describe the observation that persons with small differences between them can end up in fights of great emotional distress and hatred. The narcissism comes from looking in the mirror and seeing a wart. "They" are then not like "us". Fracture, split, expulsions, hatred, bullying, mobbing.

Look to yourselves and allow others to be different.

we all like to imagine we are tolerant. the test is whether we are tolerant of those we don't like, else we have a pseudo-toleration which is basically narcissistic (and manipulative)

Toleration is acceptable to a point.

Should I be tolerant of peoples culture, religion and colour, I believe we should be.

Should I be tolerant of small people given power that cannot handle it, I don't believe we should.

Cordially,

Sean
