An example of freebies for testers

It appears that some engine authors do indeed give free copies to rating league testers:

I am getting Naum for free as well. I have to pay for all other engines I test though.

This would certainly be an worthwhile disclosure for all the testers/testing groups to make on their websites. It's useful to know who the "sponsors" are.

- Rybka 1.01 on 20 Dec. 2005
- Rybka 2.1 (1CPU) on 24 Jul. 2006
- Rybka 3 (1CPU) on 01 Aug. 2008
- Rybka 4 (1CPU) on 07 June 2010

I have got for free :

- Rybka 3 (SMP) on 07 Aug. 2008
- Noomen's book on 21 June 2009
- Aquarium GUI on 26 June 2009

Enough already!

You shouldn't feel inclined to tell everyone which engines you've purchased and which ones were received for free, as your're running a free forum, making tournaments and do all other stuff for computerchess also for free (or pro deo) since years.
