I clearly stated that I did not consider NGplay to be a clone. I also said that NGplay uses TSCP code. The author has now added acknowledgement in his source code so that issue is closed for me.
If you have something further to debate, I am not sure what it is. My proposed "penalty" was to give credit for the borrowed code. The author did that.
The comments about Rybka are salient according to the full context of my message and the thread in general, but I also agree that it is almost a different topic.
That people believe giving credit where credit is due to be some sort of penalty is bizarre to me.
Certainly I admit that I am different from most other people.
From the first post of this thread to the last post of this thread, I have believed that the NGplay author should give credit to TSCP. He has now done so. Case closed for me.
Author of NGplay_61 should give credit to tscp

Re: Author of NGplay_61 should give credit to tscp
The top of NGPLAY 75 now contains this:
Code: Select all
/* I should give credit to Tom Kerrigan and his TSCP */
/* for inspiration about chess programming. Especially */
/* his code for xboard interface and book opening helped */
/* me a lot. However the main engine algorithm (search, */
/* move generation and evaluation) was written completely */
/* from scratch. thanks G.G. */
