Using real names

It would be nice to see all people use their real names in this forum.
Should this even be made a prerequisite ?

Matthias.

Let's call it a "strong request". I don't want to force anyone to do anything -- if people want to remain anonymous here, that's their decision. I personally appreciate knowing the real name of the person I am talking to.

Duplicate accounts will not be tolerated, though. I'll add some lines about both of these things to the Rules forum.

I really like my id, otherwise I don't mind using my real Name Franklin Titus. Using real names give a personal feeling to the community. Is it possible to create a new Field in the profile to enter real name?

Probably, I'll check it out.

EDIT: Done. There is an optional field for Real Name in the User Control Panel and on the registration screen now. You can see the real name if you look at a user's profile.

I give much more credence to posters that use their real names. It shows they are prepared to put their name behind their words. Some of the most venomous and contentious posters on other forums, do so under the cover of anonymity. Although I would be in favor of allowing postings under pseudonyms, I will also take what the poster says with a grain of salt.

It was the Adams that took that creed from us. We Frayers have been checkmating European kings for the last 300 years. La Liberté guidant le peuple, viva la liberte.

We have something in common at last except I also ignore engines when the authors do not give their names. :)

Do you read books written by people using pseudonyms?
